By taking a systems approach, we’re able to reduce testing costs while maintaining highly accurate measurements, rivaling traditional gold standard dry combustion quantification methods at a significantly lower cost. To do this, we’re developing a scalable, high-accuracy soil organic carbon (SOC) measurement system that employs elements of spectroscopy, dry combustion, remote sensing, and automation. Our initial goal is to remove the key techno-economic barrier to more widespread SOC testing, thereby acting as a resource to aid in the adoption of regenerative practices, sequestering carbon, improving soil health, and improving farm profit. Through rigorous science, innovative technology, and creative design, Haystack is bridging a critical gap in the soil carbon measurement and verification space.
